Developed by Housemarque, it is one of the first Sony Group Corporation (NYSE: SONY) games to release exclusively to the PS5, providing a true next-gen experience. Players can expect stunning visuals especially in the contrast between the dark environment of the game and the colorful neon of the bullet-hell, as discussed in this interview with marketing director Mikael Haveri. The game will also make full use of the PS5’s 3D audio, during the game you could even hear someone behind you and shoot them without any visual cues. Fast loading and adaptive triggers will undoubtedly add positively to the experience as well.
The plot follows Selene, a starship commander who has crash-landed on an ever-changing alien planet Atropos. Details of the gameplay and plot are well-kept secrets so far but what we do know is that the landscape changes every time Selene dies. Developed by Ubisoft Entertainment SA (EPA: UBI.PA) Far Cry 6 is the sixth main installment of the Far Cry series and is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia. It is a first-person shooter game that follows a local Yaran, Dani Rojas in his quest for freedom from dictator Anton Castillo. Far Cry 6 deviates from its predecessors in that the objective is now resistance rather than survival. This time the game takes players to a much larger environment in the city of Esperanza rather than the small-scale settlements from previous installments. Players will also get to explore jungles, coastal towns, farmland, and urban environments. Narrative Director Navid Khavari talked about the addition of verticality to provide a new gameplay experience. Being able to run across rooftops, use back alleys, fight against opponents in this setting is new and remarkable. The setting in a long-barricaded state also means that the game will return to its crafting roots, with players having the opportunity to create weapons from resources they find in the game.
8. DeathLoop
Release Date: May 21, 2021
Deathloop is a first-person shooter game from Arkane Lyon. The game will be released exclusively to PS5 for the first year at least.
The plot revolves around two rival assassins trapped in a time loop on the island of Blackreef; players get to play as Colt, an assassin. The only way to end the cycle is by assassinating the eight Visionaries on the island before the day resets. Every new loop allows you to learn something new, with the final objective being to complete the loop perfectly. However, there is a twist. The game has an AI powered character, Julianna, a rival assassin who appears at random points throughout the game and who’s task is to protect the time loop and kill Colt. The game has a multiplayer aspect in that other players can take on the role of Julianna as well.
In an interview Arkane’s Dinga Bakaba and Sébastien Mitton described it as a “murder puzzle,” where knowledge is the key to beating the game. DeathLoop brings players a “complex, sixties-inspired world of murder, magical powers and time loops” that is sure to get players hooked.
7. Resident Evil Village 8
Release Date: May 7, 2021
Resident Evil is a series well-known and widely loved. Developed and published by Capcom Co., Ltd. (OTC: CCOEY) it is a survival horror game that picks up a few years after Resident Evil 7. It follows Ethan who has been suddenly kidnapped by Chris Redfield to a mysterious European village. According to a Famitsu magazine interview, producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Peter Fabiano say that the latest installment will address the ending of Resident Evil 7 and conclude the ongoing story entirely. It will be released to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S and Stadia.
The game requires use of weapons against enemies, resource and inventory management and crafting skills to be able to win. Game director Morimasa Sato said they wanted to make it “a horror movie that you can play” by giving players more freedom toward solving problems. Rumors say hallucinations and not being able to trust others are a major theme this time, and the game will be longer than previous installments, possibly even the longest. 6. Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls Online is online role-playing game first released in 2014 which is getting a major update in 2021 with the release of Blackwood. Its newest features include a new zone, a new storyline that is connected to Gates of Oblivion, a new world event in the form of Oblivion Portals and finally new quests and world bosses. The biggest addition to this update however is the new Companions system. It will finally allow smaller groups and single players to realistically take on the dungeons, something that was only possible with a larger group before. Creative Director Rich Lambert says this is because feedback from players has been that they would rather play some content some close friends rather than a large group.
Improved graphics are also an exciting new addition. PS5 players will get the 4K Fidelity Mode and a 60fps Performance Mode but will also get to enjoy increased realism with higher resolution textures and reflections, increased draw distance and improved ambient occlusion, among many more.
