East coast vacation destinations are often the best way to go, at least for those of us who don’t have the means to fly away to Paris for the weekend. Why not explore the beauties of your home country instead? Your wallet will certainly thank you. And while this list includes some must see places on the east coast, we didn’t limit our list to beach destinations. Any vacation spot in an east coast state counted, but if you’re really hankering for some sun, don’t worry, we included a few beach vacations as well.
Long weekend trips, for holidays like Labor and Memorial Day, or even Christmas and Thanksgiving if you want to branch out this season, serve as great ways to recharge. Taking a full vacation may not always be possible, but making it a weekend getaway can be a lot more feasible. You’ll find some of the best long weekend getaways on the east coast here.

These spots even work as east coast honeymoon getaways, if you can’t get away for longer than a weekend after your “I do’s.” Romance is a key component in many of these sites, and though they are beautiful, they won’t quite be the same if you explore them on your own. To come up with our list, we went to US Travel News, a reputable ranking website for vacation spots everywhere. They have lists galore that rate the best travel destinations, and we scanned many of them to come up with our list. We used around 15 of their lists, such as Best Adventure Vacations in the USA, Best Affordable Honeymoons in the USA, Best Romantic Getaways in the USA, Best Relaxing Getaways in the USA and Best Affordable Honeymoons in the USA, to name a few. For each time an east coast vacation spot was listed, we gave it a point. That means the destinations that topped our list appeared on many different lists, so they are widely loved.
