ValueAct Capital is one of the most successful activist hedge funds in our database. It was founded by Jeffrey Ubben in 2000 and is known for its soft activist approach where the fund works behind the scenes. Jeffrey Ubben retired from ValueAct Capital in 2020 and started Inclusive Capital to focus on ESG investing. Long-time ValueAct partner Mason Morfit, who became ValueAct's Chief Investment Officer in 2018, took over the CEO position in 2020. During the transition Morfit told ValueAct investors that the fund's investment approach won't change and ValueAct will continue to find "win-wins for our companies and our investors".
ValueAct Capital has a long-term investment approach and its portfolio has very low turnover. The activist hedge fund had more than $13 billion in assets under management as of March 2021.
