Ralph Whitworth is a founding member and principal of Relational Investors LLC. Ralph Whitworth founded the investment fund in 1996, with the intent of directing the funds towards strategic block investments with the goal of making major profits. Ralph Whitworth is also the Director of Genzyme Corporation, a biotechnology company headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Past positions of Ralph Whitworth include Chairman of the Board of Apria Healthcare Group, and Chairman of the Board for Waste Management, Inc. Ralph Whitworth has also served as the director for the following companies: Sovereign Bancorp, Mattel, Tektronix, Sprint Nextel Corporation, United Thermal Corporation, Sirius Satellite Radio, and Wilshire Technologies.

From 1989 to 1992, he was the President of Development at United Thermal Corporation. During his time as the pro bono president of the United Shareholders Association from 1986 to 1994, he authored a petition that led to an overhaul in the U.S. SEC’s rules regarding shareholder communication and compensation disclosure rules.

Ralph Whitworth served as the president of Whitworth and Associates from 1988 to 1996. This was a firm that provided professional advice to major companies and their investors on investment strategies, corporate acquisitions, and corporate governance.

Ralph V. Whitworth is also a director for Titan Investment Partners, LLC, also an investment fund with a focus on up-and-coming companies.
